HANCOCK COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
Greenfield, Indiana

Type: New Construction

Size: 39,800 square feet

Completed: Under Construction

In 1999, the Greenfield Public Library grew into a county-wide system and became the Hancock County Public Library. This change enabled them to extend services to residents outside of Greenfield city limits and also to accommodate the current population growth in the area.  After successful project with their branch in New Palestine, the library invited KRM to design their new main library building located in Greenfield, IN.

The new 39,000 square foot building layout accommodates self-check out and future RFID tag technology which provides more automation and less dependence on staff for incoming materials to easily move throughout the building. A large meeting room with space for 230 people will provide local organizations a place to gather.  Its flexible design enables the space to be separated into two smaller rooms for simultaneous usage. The additional library space allows for an expanded audio-visual collection, a designated teen space, internet search center, a Friends of the Library used book store, Indiana History and Genealogy room, and much more.
