ANDERSON COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION - TECHNOVATION STUDIO

Ebbertt Education Center

Anderson, Indiana

Type: Renovation

Size: 6,500 square feet

Completed: 1999

Transformed from un-used cafeteria space into an innovative, inter-discipline learning studio, the Ebbertt Education Center’s technovation studio provides a place where students can have an interactive, multi-sensory academic experience.  Its conception came out of a need for high school students to develop the skills that are necessary to prepare them for the business world such as time management, team building, working with people, and independent thinking. Fully funded and supported by local businesses and citizens, the Anderson Community School Corporation was able to completely renovate the space and supply the studio with the latest in technology equipment. The space was designed for integrating several learning methods such as lecturing, team collaboration, visual and audio stimulation, and hands on application. Math, Science, and English are offered to students and they can take one, two, or all three subjects in place of those classes at their high school. This unique concept provides opportunities for project-based curriculum through collaboration, integrated instruction, and technology.
