The town center has become a central hub where performances on the outdoor stage draw large crowds and where parents watch their children run through the water sculpture or enjoy the playground. One of the components of the city of Anderson's downtown revitalization project was reorganizing and adding beauty to Meridian Street in front of the historic Paramount Theatre. The traffic pattern changed from a serpentine style to a straight lane with parallel parking dressed with clay brick pavers. Specially designed light fixtures are incorporated that allow banners and plants to form a high canopy providing a three dimensional feel to the overall streetscape. Sculptural pieces from local and regional artists add to the ambience of the outdoor space.
