The Big Four Train Station was a restoration project in downtown
Anderson, Indiana. In order to accurately restore this station,
an original drawing set containing drawings from 1894 and its remodel
in 1945 was included with our new proposed drawings. A major portion
of funding came from a committed ISTEA grant. Proper coordination
of this project with the Florentine Project (a restoration of Meridian
Street, downtown Anderson) was important to smoothly allocate resources.
Currently, the Anderson Young Ballet Academy and Butler’s
Pantry occupy the station. The space functions both as a dance
studio and a banquet facility. Butler’s Pantry would offer
convenient catering services for parties and receptions as well
as provide a snack/break area for ballet students who spend long
hours at the academy.
